ANDES MINT COOKIES
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons water
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 ounces Andes mints
Pecan halves
In a larage bowl, cream sugars and butter or margarine. Add eggs, vanilla and water. Beat well. Mix flour, baking soda and salt well. Add gradually to egg mixture. Chill dough overnight (it is important that the dough be well chilled}. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wrap each mint comletely in cookie dough. Place 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheets and put a nut on top of each cookie. Bake 7-9 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool throughly on wire racks.

Instead of a nut on top, drizzle some melted chocolate on top and they make a beautiful cookie for gifting.

Try freezing the mints before wrapping in the cookie dough. Also roll them in powered sugar right out of the oven.

Cherry mints are delicious also.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS, PHONE CALLS, CARDS, DURING THESE LAST FEW MONTHS AS WE BEGAN OUR WORK IN CHILE. GOD HAS INDEED PROVIDED US WITH A VERY NICE HOME, VEHICLE, AND HAS SUSTAINED AS WE MEET THE MANY CHALLENGES OF LIVING IN ANOTHER CULTURE. WE HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE AND HAVE BEEN STRETCH MORE THAN WE THOUGHT WAS POSSIBLE.
CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR US AS WE GO THROUGH THE DOORS THAT HAVE BEEN OPENED UP TO US IN BUENA ERPERANZA. WE WILL BE STARTING A BIBLE STUDY THERE THE FIRST OF JANUARY. PLEASE PRAY FOR A PERSON OF PEACE. THIS WOULD BE SOMEONE THAT GOD HAS STARTED TO WORK WITH IN THE AREA AND WOULD BE VERY OPEN TO US.
WE HAVE BEEN WORKING IN A KIDS BIBLE CLUB ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH LUZMANIA, A WOMAN WHO IS A CHILEAN NATIONAL. WE HAVE BEEN RECEIVED VERY WELL AND IT IS OUR PRAYER THAT AS WE BREAK FOR THE SUMMER IT WILL CONTINUE WHEN SCHOOL BEGINS WITH ANOTHER NATIONAL TO COME UP BESIDE OF HER.
THANK'S ALL WHO SUPPORT THE LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING FOR MAKING ALL THIS POSSIBLE THROUGH YOUR SACRIFICIAL GIVING.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!!!!!

JOHN 10:26-30

CHRIST JESUS, YOU SAID THAT THOSE WHO BELIEVE YOU ARE YOUR SHEEP. YOUR SHEEP LISTEN TO YOUR VOICE; YOU KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW YOU. YOU GIVE THEM ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH; NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF YOUR FATHER'S HAND. YOU AND THE FATHER ARE ONE.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOUR HOUSE

DEAR GOD,
IT'S HARD FOR US TO BE SEPARATED FROM
THOSE WHO ARE SO VERY SPECIAL TO US.
WE COMMIT THEM TO YOUR CARE.
THANK YOU THAT ALTHOUGH WE MAY EXPERIENCE
SEPARATION ON THE EARTH,
YOU HAVE PREPARED A PLACE FOR US
TO ALL BE TOGETHER WITH YOU FOREVER.
AMEN

DEAR LORD,
WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR ALL YOU'VE GIVEN TO US,
YOU HAVE BLESSED US WITH NOT ONLY MATERIAL POSSESSIONS,
BUT ALSO WITH UNIQUE TALENTS THAT WE CAN SHARE WITH OTHERS.
MAKE US AWARE OF THOSE WHO NEED ASSISTANCE,
SO THAT WE CAN SHARE OUR TIME IN HELPING,
OR EVEN JUST LISTENING WHEN THEY NEED TO TALK.
OUR TREASURE AND ABILITIES ARE YOURS, LORD.
WE WANT TO USE THEM TO BENEFIT OTHERS.
AMEN

SO IS MY WORD THAT GOES OUT FROM MY MOUTH:
IT WILL NOT RETURN TO ME EMPTY,
BUT WILL ACOMPLISH WHAT I DESIRE
AND WILL ACHIEVE THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH I SENT IT.

HUGO IS OUR TEACHER ON TUESDAY EVENINGS

PASTOR (IN WHITE SHIRT), HIS SON DAVID, AND CHURCH MEMBER

The last two months have been a whirl-wind as we immersed into the Spanish culture. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to learn Chilean Spanish. God has abundantly supplied our needs as we sought out language learners. Connie is working with Teresita Marchant Ahumada who owns a fabric shop in downtown Vallenar and is always a joy to meet with. Andy meets with the local Baptist Pastor, Marcello and with Hector who delivers our water. We both have developed a close relationship plus have learned much from these nationals.

What a joy it was to have our home church be our first mission team to work with since arriving. We have now been on both sides----short term missionaries and now career missionaries.

God through your faithful giving has provided us with everything we need to minister in the Huasco River Valley. He has provided a comfortable home with ALL new furnishings and appliances that overlooks the city of Vallenar. In addition we have a Suzuki four wheel drive that has been indespensable in our movement throughout the river valley.

Every penny given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is used to support Southern Baptist Missionaries as they share the Gospel.

We are currently working with the Wolf Pack in Buena Esperanza and have started an Adult Bible Study. We have also started a Kids Bible Club in Las Terrazas in our neighborhood on Friday afternoons. This is a direct result of JBC partnering in Praying, Giving, and Going that ALL may hear.

CONNIE PRAYING TO A LIVING GOD FOR THE PEOPLE IN BUENA ESPERANZA

"Ministering in everyday opportunities that surround us does not mean that we select our own surroundings it means being God's very special choice to be available for use in any of the seemingly random and haphazard surroundings which He has engineered for us."
MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST

We are getting settled in our new home in Chile and our new surroundings. Our team members, The Wolf Pack, have worked so hard getting our house ready and making us feel part of the family. We've seen and done more this past year than can be stated in this writing. However, greater then all seen and done would be the reality that EVERY promise in the Word is Yes in Him (2 Corn. 1:20). Every day He has fed us with fresh manna-His Living Word-to strengthen us spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally. This "manna" is always exactly what we need for the day! He has been a God of encouragement and perseverance. (Romans 15:5) His Spirit is alive and powerful within us, enabling us to do above and beyond our level of imagining. We have learned to trust, obey and be disciplined with the "tough" love of the Father that commands that we "love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind" (Matthew 22:37). We are continually learning to "ask so that we can receive, seek so that we can know and knock so that the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7) He has faithfully met absolutely every need and has given us so many unexpected delights along the way! Had we not obeyed the command to "leave all and follow Him", we would be on the "outside looking in" and oh, what we would have forfeited. He has become our All in all.

"ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH SHALL REMEMBER AND TURN TO THE LORD, AND ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE NATIONS SHALL WORSHIP YOU. FOR THE KINGDOM IS THE LORD'S

We look for visions from heaven, for earthquakes and thunders of God's power---and we never
dream that all the time God is in the commonplace things and people around us. If we will do the daily that lies nearest, we shall see Him.

Our Tica family is such a blessing to us. We have learned many things about the Latin American culture. The food that she prepares us is Muy Rico as they say here and I will go into Chile with many receipe's from her kitchen.
