WE ARE FINALLY UP AND RUNNING AGAIN!!! PRAISE GOD.
On Easter morning we recieved a beautiful Easter greeting from a dear friend but unfortunately we contacted a virus from the attachment and had to get a new hard drive. We have not been able to be in full capacity for over a month as we struggled to get our hard drive delivered to our son, he sent it to Tennesee for some missionaries to bring it out of country and finally another missionary helped install it. I have a lot of pictures to share and it is hard to believe that we are now in our second tri-mester.
We have learned so much about South America these last four months. We have grown in our relationship with our Tico family who we thank God for daily. We have grown in our relationships with our church family who are so kind to us as we struggle to communicate with them. We have had excellent teachers who have encouraged and prayed for us daily as we entered their classrooms and look with anticipation at what God is going to do this tri-mester as we have two on one with our maestras. We have more time to get out and experience the culture and use the language we have acquired to date. God has worked it out perfectly as far as
we are concerned.
We went out of country to renew our Visa's to Guatemala with another couple. We were gone for three days and stayed in the Arkansas Mission House in Guatemala City. It was a whirlwind because the first day we just rested and got acquainted with our surroundings. We were told it was quite in the city because everyone had going to the beach for Easter break. It was very different to see guards everywhere with their shotguns ready to shot. We were told not to ride any buses in the city because there had been 100 murders of the bus drivers since January. They rob the buses for money. The second day we went to the Guatemala Zoo, Culture Center and were invited to a barbeque with fellow missionaries who lived in the city complete with homemade icecream. The third day we went to Antique and experienced the Easter processionals with a lot of historic and architectural touches.
On our break between tri-mester Andy went on a mission trip on the border of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. He took surveys of three river villages. He saw an alligator in the wild along a river bank and many Tucans. The area was very poor and sanitary conditions were likewise very poor. I stayed in Costa Rica and ministered to a gal who stayed behind also.
